Chella

Salto Viewpoint (Chella)

The natural spot of El Salto de Chella is undoubtedly the most emblematic place of the municipality. It is a small microclimate area in which stands out an impressive waterfall of 25 meters high located on the outskirts of the town of Chella. This natural area is part of the Sellent river and from this point you can see in the background the Caves of the Turk (set of between 15 and 20 caves excavated in the wall at high altitude so that its access is practically impossible). If you move north of the municipality you will be able to appreciate this place from a different perspective.
The viewpoint is located in Chella’s historic Moorish origin center and called today La Peña’s neighborhood, the highest part of the municipality where the old Muslim fortress, now Calle el Castillo (Castle’s street), was located. In 1611 Carlos de Borja granted a population charter, after the expulsion of the Moors.
