Cultural and Sports Week of Navarrés

Local Tourist Interest Festival of the Valencian Community.

The cultural and sports week is celebrated the last week of July and the first week of August. During this time, you can find theatrical performances, stand-up comedy, conferences, dances, orchestras, and shows, as well as triathlon races, cycling, night walks, volta a peu, and matches and championships of various sports, from the most traditional ones, such as petanque and raspall, to more general ones such as 7-a-side football or paddle tennis, or even those requiring skill, such as chess and many other board games. All accompanied by other activities that strengthen social interactions among the residents and visitors of the event, such as foam parties, outdoor potluck dinners, traditional games, and children’s workshops, as well as a paella contest by groups, etc. The most original event of the week is the traditional ‘Pasacalle del Farol del Pimentón,’ named because initially it was the element used for it. At present, and considering that there were many leftover melons during the harvest, it was decided to replace those with melons. The melon is hollowed out, different designs or words are carved into it, a small candle is placed inside, and they are added to the nighttime parade organized one of the nights of the cultural week.
