Incorporation in the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations

The executive commission of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations has approved this Wednesday the incorporation “La Canal de Navarrés”.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has pointed out the importance of smart destinations for the relaunch of tourism in Spain, and has announced the creation of a new knowledge model that will provide municipalities with elements for making tourism policy decisions.

The role of municipalities is essential to promote and guarantee smart and safe tourism, and will be the protagonist in the relaunch of a key sector, both for its economic weight and for its contribution to social and territorial cohesion, he added this Wednesday in his intervention in the Executive Committee of the Network of Tourist Destinations Inte As for the new knowledge model, the objective is to better understand the characteristics of the productive fabric that forms the Spanish offer and to identify social trends that affect the behavior of travelers, in order to to be able to anticipate eventual changes in demand, Maroto explained. The Executive Committee of the DTI network has approved the incorporation of 16 new destinations, bringing the number of members of the network to 121 (88 are destinations, 16 institutional members and 16 collaborating companies), the Ministry of Industry has reported. , Commerce and Tourism in a statement.

As a consequence of the health crisis, work is underway to improve and adapt the Diagnosis of Smart Tourist Destinations methodology and the recommendations of the action plan, with the aim of incorporating issues related to the situation that has arisen, such as future communication actions, repositioning in markets or employment support.

Likewise, a training and capacity building plan for its members is being designed, focused on digital tools, hygiene issues, segment analysis and analytical capacities, to strengthen capacities in the post-COVID-19 environment.

The DTI Network, established on February 27, 2019, aims to promote a new frame of reference to consolidate the competitiveness of the Spanish tourism model. EFE
