Fuente de Marzo Lake (Anna)

The Fuente de Marzo is a small natural lake nestled between the limestone rocks that comprise the upper stretch of the River Anna. A site close to La Albufera where a mountain ecosystem prevails.

The Fuente de Marzo lake also has a small weir or dam which prevented the river from flooding, while channelling part of its flow for irrigation and for use by the old textile industries or for the production of liquor nearby. The presence of artefacts linked to the production of wool powered by the flow of water is documented in the 16th century, as well as the presence of flour mills in the area. Other historic uses point to a wash house for the local people, as shown by the channels carved into the rock.

A peaceful space that invites you to swim, fish for the abundant fish that inhabit it, or exploring the ruins of the old Fuente de Marzo Dye Factory, a building from the past century which stands a few metres from the lake.
